Privacy at Snappy

Snappy is operated by Marc Plotkin. Contact marc@marcplotkin.com about your data or to request account deletion.

Accounts and billing

Google sign-in supplies your account identifier, name, email address and profile image. We store account and session information to authenticate you, along with your links, API-key hashes, usage and subscription state. Necessary cookies keep you signed in and protect the login flow. Stripe processes payments and manages billing information; card numbers are not stored in Snappy’s database.

Workspaces and destination checks

You can also register with email and a password. Passwords are stored as hashes. Cloudflare sends verification and password-reset emails. We store usernames, workspace memberships and invitations, custom-domain verification records, and up to 100 previous destinations per link. Members can see their workspace’s links and reports according to their role. Deleting a link removes its destination history; its name and agent request identity remain reserved to prevent reuse or accidental recreation.

If you enable destination monitoring, Snappy periodically contacts that destination over HTTPS without forwarding browser cookies or account credentials. Monitoring records the response status and check time.

When someone opens a link

Snappy collects click information for analytics: time, destination, IP address, approximate location, referring site, language, browser and device information. Link owners can view analytics for their own links and may access detailed click events through the API. Do not put confidential information in a public short link.

Traffic reports estimate whether requests resemble browser visits, automated previews, bots or declared agent checks. These labels do not establish a visitor’s identity.

Raw click analytics are retained by Cloudflare Analytics Engine for up to three months. Free accounts can view the most recent 7 days; Pro accounts can view up to 90 days. Detailed click collection stops after the account’s monthly tracked-click allowance. Account, link and billing records remain while needed to provide the service, resolve billing issues and meet applicable obligations.

Service providers

Cloudflare hosts Snappy, its database and analytics. Google provides sign-in, and Stripe provides payment processing. These providers process information needed for those functions. Opening a short link also sends your browser to the destination website, whose privacy practices apply there.

We use account and usage information to operate the service, apply limits, prevent abuse and handle support. Contact us for access, correction or deletion requests.
